I want to make decals for this car, but I need to know what color this CSXT car is. I suspect its a kind of blue with white lettering? Is the lettering white or yellow? http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=65551 Thanks, -Robert
Robert, Don't know for sure, but if you compare to the white boxes around the data placard (or whatever that is) toward the right end of the car, that does look yellow. Most CSX lettering is yellow and they use just about the cheapest paint there is so it fades pretty badly. I need to get some SCL, Chessie and NYC cars and partially paint over them and wipe off half the wet paint to get the proper effect for a CSX car. Randy
Looks like Yellow lettering,,,, from the photo, I can't tell if it is dark blue or black paint. Harold
That's a tough call on both accounts. It does however look like a black car with really faded yellow lettering.
I would say dark blue. Look at the trucks, they are black. Now compare to the car body which is more blue. Also, look at the patch to the car on the right. That looks blue as well. I would go with a dark blue with yellow lettering. Rob
My vote goes for dark blue *faded* and yellow lettering... (also faded) GN have any of these? I know they had some 53' bulkhead flats in Big Sky Blue in aluminum ingot service.... Might be the same kind. Check the GN Color Guide to Freight & Passenger Equipment. I have the book, but it's packed. To be delivered witht he rest of my stuff on Monday! I can check it then, if you remind me. I did find this: is it close? http://www.greatnorthernempire.net/images/freightcars/GN160726BulkheadFlatcar.JPG You might find inspiration here: http://greatnorthernempire.net/GNEStillActiveFreightCars_Flatcars.htm
Thanks for the info everyone. I want to have a set of eastern and a set of western roads for the decals. This is what I have so far:
Are you going to sell each road name decal separtely or a whole sheet of various names. The whole sheet would be my preference unless the expense gets too high. ...don
Yes, I have photo's of BN and BNSF cars, as they actually have old Frisco, NP, and GN cars surviving. These would be from the 1966-1967 builds.
The plan is just like the covered hopper, and centerbeam kits, to provide decals for up to 4 roadnames per kit. I was planning seperating them for Eastern and Western roadnames. :shade:
