(cross posted on the 'Railfanning' thread also) I had the afternoon off on Friday, and did a little CSX-chasing. Western Hills viaduct to grab this shot of the Queensgate Engine facility:

I didn't want to spend too long on the viaduct, the last time I was there I was stopped by the police (just told to leave, as this view is on the non-sidewalk side). My plan was to go to Covington to get a s/b CSX w/ the skyline in the background, and then move over to the NS bridge at Ludlow and catch a s/b there. As it turned out, I ended up staying on the CSX line the rest of the afternoon. Next up is a southbound autorack train heading through Covington - just south of the Ohio River bridge. I've wanted to get this shot for awhile, with the Cinci skyline in the background:

My plan was to head over to Ludlow and grab some NS action, but as I was driving under the CSX bridge, I saw a very slow moving s/b headed by a patched Conrail unit, so I raced back to try to catch it (I think the overpass is 8th street). I made it, and missed a meet by about 1 minute as n/b grain train came through, and stopped just prior to this shot:

After getting that shot, I figured I may be able to beat the grain train across the river -- I made it w/ about 30 seconds to spare, and grabbed this shot w/ the Cincinnati Enquirer building in the background. This is just off the bridge over the river.

And finally, passing in front of the old Hudepohl brewery, on its way down the viaduct and into Queensgate Yard.

Very nice! I have only been through Cinci a few times - interesting to see shots from there, since I have never had time to figure out where to take pics from there.
    Thanks for posting!

Edit: The company I work for was acquired by GE, and I am currently working with the Cinci site
while we make our way through the name change to GE - maybe I should ask if any of them are railfans - then I think I need to make a trip to Cinci to work directly with the team at that site!

Hey Great Shots!!! Nice one with the Basilica in the background. My wife and I stayed at a Bed and Breakfast in that neighborhood. The trains went by less than a block away. Totally cool. Unfortunately the B&B is closed.

Very nice photos. It is always nice to see photos of my hometown. I have a Cincinnati railfan site at www.cincyrails.com if any visitors need information on the area. This is a great town to railfan.

Welcome to Trainboard! I've always thought Cincy was a great place for train watching. Lots of busy lines running in there. I run to Cincy a lot and it is the only place around here that one can still see Amtrak.
