    Help!

I need to lower two Cooch bridge piers by 1/4 inch. I see three options (1) cut the piers, (2) raise the approaches, or (3) cut a hole in the base.

    (2) is not practical because of space limitations.

    (3) is possible, but the pier is resting on my base of 3/4" spruce. Using my Dremel as a router could be done, but it would be messy.

    (1) seems like the easiest. I'm worried about chipping or shattering. My first thought was a fine hacksaw blade. I also have a small reciprocating jigsaw which is a possibility.

Has anyone tried cutting Cooch Cut Stone Bridge piers? [IMG]

I would cut out the base. That way if you do not make perfect cuts you can just fill in around the base with plaster or wood filler.

I decided to lower the piers instead of cutting them and it worked out OK. I understand however, that a razor saw will work fine as long as you cut slowly.
