I am converting a Bachmann 4-8-4 to a D & H Northern. Can anyone help with the following queries:

Steam and sand domes. From the photos I have it is not clear what the arrangement is. Can anyone clarify the arrangement of these fittings?

Cab. I have come arross references to an all weather cab being fitted to these engines. Since the is no envidence of side doors, am I to assume that a rear transverse door was fitted?

Finally, the tender. Since I need to scratch build a tender does anybody have the overall dimentions?

While a scale model will not result, I hope to end up with a descent proporttional loco.

    Thanks for any help,

    Tom Burns.

Only photo I have is from "Illustrated Treasury of ALCO" by Kerr. It shows a massive sand dome starting about even with the end of the first driver and extending to about the end of the third driver. No steam dome visible; it was either submerged like the very similar NYC Niagaras or in the very neat turret just ahead of the cab. Extremely clean lines. Two small appendages just aft of sand dome could be safety valves, other than that the top is clean from sand dome to turret. No side doors visible on cab. Tender looks too small for the engine at about half it's length, flat top. Six wheel trucks with very little space between. I'd send a photo but my scanner is acting up.
