:tb-biggrin:After doing some research in my available D&H reference books, and visiting an interesting website (Five Chime Consultants airhorn guide) I have discovered that the proper airhorn for most (?) D&H RS-3's and other D&H locomotives is the Nathan M3RT1. This has the two outer chimes facing forward and the middle chime facing rearward with it's bell flattened (oval) and angled slightly upwards. Has this variation been produced by any of the detail parts manufacturers like Detail Associates, Details West, etc? If not, which of the currently available airhorns can be modified to give an accurate representation of this airhorn as well as the mounting bracket to attach it to the cab? I am working in HO scale.

    Thanks,
    Phil

The Nathan M3RT1 is basically a modified M3. The number one bell was pinched and angled upward at a ten degree angle in order to clear the roof of the RS3 / RS2 when mounted on front wall bracket. As older RS3 / RS2's were retired, these horns also found themselves installed on numerous other units still in service.

Your best bet for modelling one would be to get a standard Nathan M3 (preferably white metal or brass) and just pinch the number one bell and angle it up slightly.
