    All,

I received the below question and wanted to know if anyone might know this information:

I am seeking information on the D & H canal in Hawley, PA. Specifically I am looking for information about a large house that sits on the Lackawaxen river. I have heard that it may be an old hospital, built at the time that the canal was being built, to care for malria patients. If you can give me any information or direct me to where I might find information I would greatle appreciate it. Thanks for your time. K. Carachilo

Darren, You might suggest he write to the Chamber of Commerce at Hawley, Pa. and ask them if they can direct him to a local historian, or the Library, or anyone who might have historical info. on the Hospital. Most cities now have a web address too. I haven't tried on this one, but sometimes you can go to the Search on your ISP and simply type in the city name and state, then ask for the entity you seek. He might type in Hawley Historical Society, data, Library, C of C etc. He might want to call up on one of the maps and find a location that way, and if the building is still standing, it might be named on the map, see? It takes some time, and he needs to have some idea of the dates the building was known to have been in use, etc. This is the approach I would take. :D
