GOT YA!!!!!!! For fans of the D&H as a whole, they know that the D&H owned two Steamboat Companies. I though I would share the below image I just received of this Steamer that was built 1877 and was scrapped 1908. -- Read more about this Steamer History and others at: DHVM Steamboats
Yes. You did. I saw the name Horicon, and thought of the station by that same title on the Milwaukee Road. (Located in Wisconsin.) So became curious..... Railroads used to be very diversified. Steamship lines, trucking, tugs, barges and ferries. Probably even airlines in their early days. It's surprising when you look into this just how widespread were such investments. Boxcab E50
Diversified is what the D&H history was all about which also included two Hotel Resorts on Lake George and Lake Champlain. Don't forget, The D&H start out as a Canal and later added a Gravity Railroad before getting serious about being a Railroad. It's been 180 Year since the D&H began operations and still operates under the CP Flag.
Where I live, that sounds like the Great Northern RY. They didn't have a canal. But had hotels, steamship company, and much more. You have me wondering- D&H is still operating? Do they have any of their own locos? Rolling stock? Or are they using all CP now? Issue their own timetable? Or part of the CP TT? Or are they closer to being a corporate shell? Boxcab E50
