Did the D&H ever go west of the Mississippi River? This is such an easten railroad. I think there would be some rolling stock west of the Mississippi River, but what about motive power?
Rolling Stock has been spotted Coast-to-Coast; including one I found in Denver, CO recently. The D&H line itself most eastern edge is basically Wilkes-Barre, PA. Motive power did go further than that though. Runs were made into Buffalo and on into Detroit & Chicago and other midwestern terminals. Runs were also made to the south down to Washington D.C. (via Harrisburg) as well as Philadelphia and Newark, NJ (both via Allenstown). I've seen D&H maps that hint they might have also travled to St. Louis, Peoria, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Louisville, and Postsmouth. I will see if I can get a scan of such a map added to my website and post it. Good question!!!!!!!
Yes the D&H line extended north to Montreal plus trains ran up into Quebec as well. Trains also were seen in places like Bangor, Portland (ME), and Boston. These are also on the same map I'm looking at tonight.
Heh, heh, heh... Kirby, Texas (San Antonio) August, 1992. I was amazed when I saw it. Gives me hope of running my D&H SD45 with Espee power. It's the only D&H power I have ever seen there and I did have my camera. Lucky!! [ December 19, 2005, 08:25 AM: Message edited by: sapacif ]
With that number (#4318) on the side this is a unit that was sold to CSX that they patched; that would have been D&H #7418 Nice catch!!!!!!! Can I add that to my website? Here it is in full D&H colors BTW, here it is later in FL
