For anyone with a library of D&RGW books, am wondering you have a couple. I would like to know how much difference there is in content. Between: Colorado Memories Of The Narrow Gauge Circle(Carstens), and Twilight On the Narrow Gauge (Quadrant Press). Both share a common photographer, John Krause. Am wondering if there is photo duplicity?

I have no narrow gauge books.. Collecting all the SG books I want is a challenge as it is! Maybe Keith or Jason can help?

I do have both books, will get back to you in abit Boxy, just abit busy this minute....... :)

    Ok,
Had alook through both of them, couldn't really see any duplication of photo's,but highly recomend either book!
"Colorado Memories of the Narrow Gauge Circle" is based on specific locations along the ng,Salida,Monarch branch (which I'd luv to model in Nn3 one day),Poncha Jnct,Mears Jnct,Marshall Pass,Gunnison,Crested Butte Baldwin branch,Sapinero banch,Black Canon branch,Montrose,Ridgway,Placerville,VanceJnct & Telluride branch,Ophir,Lizard Head,Rico & through to Alamosa.
130 pages, all black & white,2 editions altho cant tell the dates they printed (funnily enough,I have both editions)
Whereas "Twilight on the Narrow Gauge" looks at specific industries long the right of way,ie:stock train operations, water & coal towers, stations & structures & prolly the best of all is the write up of the switch backs on the Monarch branch.Other chapters covers the ripping up of the rails at Gunnison, snow sheds at Lizard Head pass & lots of other goodies.
Only 64 pages, both are soft cover & again recomend both good reading!

OK. Thanks! I was wondering as they both feature the same photographer. Apparently he must have taken a fair depth of pictures!

What is the time frame covered by this book? Is it mainly pre-D&SGNRR/C&TS?

    A bit late, but...........
I'm like you, have no Narrow Gauge stuff in my collection.
Check that....A quick look says I have ONE book on the NG.

Have a copy of Rio Grande - Chasing the Narrow Gauge by Robert W. Richardson. Yes, CRRM founder!

Comes with cardboard sleeve. Bought the LAST one available, with the cardboard cover anyway, at the National Narrow Gauge Convention in Denver, Sept '03. Signed and dated by Bob himself!!

How many volumes? This multiple stuff gets expensive! :eek:mg:

What all is the "3rd Div?" Is that all the D&RGW narrow gauge?

    Lol Boxy,never expensive,it's always an investment!!(thats what I tell the Mrs ;) )
Volume 1 is a new release,so should be awhile before vol.2 is out.Either way this book is ALL colour, you cant beat that!
The 3rd & 4th div is refered to as the ng lines of the D&RG.
3rd div covers the ng from Salida to GJ vis Marshall Pass, think it all finished up by 1940-42.
