The Espee guys, BN folk, and other have a detailing thread, now the real mountain modelers have their's, too!:)

This is a project I had done a while back, before the move to the new house. 2 SD50's, and a GP40. The GP40-2's are not prototypical, they are stalled in the paint stage. The plows on all 3 Geeps are incorrect, which I was notified of, AFTTER I painted them.) I still dunno if I want to chisel the old Sunrise parts off, and try BLMA plows.

I added a few pertinent details, and for the most part, left them stock.
Let's see your 'Grande power! Steam, diesel, Hydros, handcars, you name it!

Oops! How much damage would that do, to try removing them?

    Are you sure they're wrong?

The previous is a GP40, this is a GP40-2 since I can't tell which one you are doing:

I have the SD50 plows on the Geeps.
At least I think they are the wrong ones. Who knows.

Can you square it out, under the coupler box? Grind off the open doors on the plow? Too much work to be worth the time?

The plows just look a little too big. I wouldn't have known it if you didn't tell me. Atlas has the right size plows. Plus they are cheaper than the Sunrise ones.

Hemi, if you damage the pilots removing the plows, you can always add BLMA overlays and then put the right plows on. :)
Looking forward to some 'Mountain' detailing. :)

    Looking great so far!

You're correct, I think the closest plow available would be our #201...

I have a half dozen or so packs of those--looks like I made a wise buy.

I think chiseling it off and replacing with BLMA 201's would be a good way to go.

On a different engine (namely only the SD50's), bells were installed high on the long hood, on the engineer's side. Sunrise bells are perfect for the SD50's:

    My kinda kit basher!!

What are the BLMA overlays? Do they include hoses, too? Do you have to remove the existing detail? Thanks. (They are on sale at Walthers now.)

The layover does not come with air hoses, but BLMA makes them too. :) It is best to remove cast on detailing before installing the layovers.

    Hey Hemi,

I bought some of the MP15 plows, pictured here, from Atlas (I think they're $1 each) for a future SD40T-2 detailing project. They should work great for all non SD50 D&RGW modern locomotives.
