Hi all, I am putting together a database that includes all the D&RGW manifest train times from each system timetable from 1972-1989. Hopefully this will answer some questions about hot shots and drag freights. Here is the first one. Let me know if it is easy to read and if you spot any mistakes. Thanks. Database updated 11/2/06. Thanks for waiting.
Are these scheduled terminal departure/arrival times for each train? That could be interesting.. If I were a crazy rivet-counter, it would be a disaster if the evening Railblazer left North Yard after another, later scheduled train.... mg:
Database updated Hi all, The first installment of the D&RGW train times database has been updated. Employee Time Table #1, 1-1-72. Thanks for waiting.
The current database is for all the manifest trains listed in System ETT #1. There should be 24 different trains, not including the EB trains that were split after GJ. For example,WB Train #79 was scheduled to leave Pueblo at 2330 and arrive in Ogden at 2100 for a total 661 miles, time traveled of 21 hrs 30 min, and average speed of 31 mph. Another example is EB Train #34, scheduled out of Ogden at 0300 and arrive at GJ at 1125, 332 miles, 8 hrs 25 min, ave 39 mph. Train #34-6 leaves GJ 1130, arrive Denver 1830, 275 miles, 7 hrs 5 min, ave 34 mph, combined 607 miles, 15 hrs 30 min, ave 39 mph. Feel free to ask questions. Thanks. Rod
Rod, I'm with the program now... Thanks! #79 was the Ford FAST, right? Surprising, considering its priority status, how it takes just about as much time as the other trains to get from Pueblo to Ogden...
I was a bit surprised at the time it took the 79 to traverse from Pueblo to Ogden in 1972, however by the late 80"s, the transit time had been reduced significantly. Leaving Pueblo at 0130 and arriving in Ogden at 2005.
