From The Colorado Time-Table No. 132 (September 2006) Durango & Silverton locomotive update ... Ex-East Broad Top 55-Ton diesel #4 has been sold to the Colorado Railroad Museum and is awaiting shipment to Golden, while sister locomotive (known as PBII) was shipped to its new home in California in late July. The above photograph is one Lisa took September 24, 2005 where you can see #4 beind #7; looking worse for the wear. We did find #4 at the CRMM today and I will get a photograph on it posted soon. It is looking allot better than it did last year...
"...while sister locomotive (known as PBII) was shipped to its new home in California in late July." Is PBII the same as the number 7 pictured? Or another engine? Boxcab E50
Here's a shot of #7 in better days, July 14, 2004, leading a daily train heading back to Durango. That was taken in back of the motel we stayed at. Great place to watch trains, if you weren't actually riding or hanging out at the depot. Just out of curiosity, what are they planning on replacing it with? Or do they now have enough operating steam to power all their daily trains? Regards Ed
