GERMANY: Kapsch CarrierCom is to migrate what it says is 'the world's largest GSM-R network' to the IP-based 3GPP release 4 technology by mid-2014 under a €15m contract awarded by infrastructure manager DB Netz at the end of July.Kapsch CarrierCom already provides support for DB's GSM-R, and says upgrading the Network Subsystem responsible for switching requirements and access to other networks will bring significant life cycle cost savings and facilitate the introduction of new applications.
