I've built a DCC++ base station. Now I'd like to build a DCC-EX base station. The recommended motor board from arduino is out of stock. What alternative board could I use? Amazon has a bunch listed but I've no idea which one to use. Thanks for any advice offered. Dave
I have used both of these and both work quite nicely. The key is L298 chip. Outside the Arduino branded shield, these are the 2 I'd go with (and have) Deek Robot- Perhaps the most popular Have 2 both AOK https://www.ebay.com/itm/310787745501 DIY Shield Larger Heat sink. Have 2 both AOK https://www.ebay.com/itm/202132187755 Bought from this seller a number of times. Fast shipping... Good luck..
that second one mark posted works great to i have a could of those and they are no problems to date... i have one deeks motor shield that was bought new and one of the diodes was not soldered on . it was just laying in the bag... that being said i have one deeks shield that works great as well.
Yes, either of those boards are approved, you can find more information here with quite a lot of detail on each board we have tested: https://dcc-ex.com/reference/hardware/motor-boards.html
