    what about false triggers? when you move your hand or arm over the track to throw a switch....uncouple cars on an adjacent track? wonder what would happen if you have a double track mainline and you have 2 trains side by side would that have an effect?

    There is a pot on the sensor you can tune to adjust for distance. Based on my test track, it will detect to about 4 inches high so you could false trigger with a hand or something but you have to get pretty close. It also doesn't detect much that is adjacent - I'm assuming because it's mounted in a hole that somewhat directs the beam.

    Good day - A few years ago I had a situation with my HO module that required me to know the exact location of a train - there is a main line that goes through the module along with a switch-back line that crosses the main line - I tried a number of sensors and approaches to detection and finally settled on shining a laser beam down the main line so that any train occupying it would be detected stopping the switch-back train.
