    Hallo folks,
I happen to have a bunch of old Rivarossi steamers that would like to convert to DCC.
These are italian models, but I am positive that Rivarossi was using the same configuration also on american steamers like the 0-8-0 switcher and most probably to the Mikados and Pacifics (the articulated do not know).

These are the ones of the left side of the picture (tracks 1,2 and 3).
The one on the right is a former british OO scale Stanier Consolidation.

Some of these are a present from my grandather and would like to put them to revenue service on the layout.

The issue with these (it is the latest production form the 80s that have the motor on the tender and an electrical connection to the rest of the locomotive on the drawbar) is that I did not really understand how the connections are made.

The motor is connected directly to the chassis of the tender, while the drawbar has 2 different slices of metal (with a plastic slice in the middle to spearate the two) and are connected one to the chassis of the tender (conncection a) and the other to the motor (connection b).

Looks like the connection "b" brings the second pole to the motor, but I have no real idea what happens with connection "a".
Also do not really know how to insulate the motor.
Will post a picture of the chassis when I can get one out of the box.

So if anyone of you did put DCC on board one of these, and can help me establish what to connect and where I would really appreciate, since would like to reduce the risk of doing permanent damage due to the affective value and the lack of spares.
