I have been experimenting with Arduino recently. I started by building a DCC controller for the Kato turntable using the DCC Decoder from MynaBay and starting controller schematics from ntrains.org. Initially I was running this with a LENZ Command Station but have now built a DCC++ EX Command Station. There is a video of running the turntable using the LENZ system here: Here is photo of the setup on the work bench. The board at the top is a DCC Specialties OG-AR that is needed to reverse the track power on the turntable bridge. The CS is to the left, the MynaBay/Falkenberg OptoCoupler in the middle (modified per Neil's blog https://wakwak2popo.wordpress.com/2020/12/11/dcc-sniffer/) and then the Turntable Control on the right (UNO, DRV8833, I2C FRAM). The only connection between the 2 Arduino is through the main bus. The ribbon cable is the output to the turntable. My next step in the project is to build some cables so I can clean-up all the connections. I also have plans of adding a display (maybe even a small touchscreen) to the turntable controller and a makerfabs wifi shield to the DCC++ EX CS so I am not stuck with connecting everything to my PC for serial IO.
