I have the old yard layout map from the county (Whiteside) Near Lyndon, IL. Today the only thing left is the Denrock sign that you can see from interstate 88. I checked CB&Q society for pictures of equipment and buildings and there is almost nothing. I have been told by the old timers that it was a very large switching yard and by the maps from the county it looks to be. They say you could here the steamers at night 30 miles away in Sterling switching cars. I also talked to a friend in near by Prophetstown and he said he remembers an auction back in the 60's where a woman's estate had loads of pictures of that yard but who knows where they are today. History lost?

Anyone know where else I may look for more info on this steam era yard?

Galesburg Railroad Museum would be a start. Might be a place in Savanna as well or Sterling. Good luck!
