Norfolk Southern sufferred a derailment this morning on its former Conrail/NYC mainline near La Porte, IN. Not many details yet, but both lines are blocked. Amtrak trains 29 and 49 were stopped at South Bend, IN and passengers were bussed to Chicago, IL. NS is hoping to have at least one of the two lines reopened by late this evening. Chris Toth
Additional info reports that this was a collision between two trains. Four crew members of the two trains were transported to the hospital; one in serious condition, the remaining three were treated and released.
