Well, I finally decided to resume posting some of my collection tonight on the DHVM and I picked three (3) Engines that were unique to the D&H. These are now part of the DHVM but I thought I would link them here too. Enjoy! Now, look closely at the lower right side of the photograph above and now add this passenger car (Photo By Dave T. Klutchko) with the "HOOK" as the coupler and then picture yourself traveling in Pennsylvania Mountains while the Civil War is occuring nearby in Gettysburg {July 1-3, 1863}.
I see all kinds of things that would be fun to eyeball close up! One would be in the first photo. A double rope yoke on that steamer bell. Next, I'd love to see the inside of that "Transit" inspection loco/car. Then I'd like to get close to that passenger car. A wooden center sill! Those wheels and brake rigging would be next! Well, I can't help you with the inside of the Inspection Engines; but, the Passenger Car "PIONEER" (Pictured above) is at Hawley, PA and the "ECLIPSE" (Pictured below) is at Honesdale, PA at the Old D&H Canal Company Office. These Passenger Cars were used on the Gravity Railroad which was a Roller Coaster ride at speeds up to 30-40 MPH (without an Engine attached) flying down the montain
