    Darren or anyone-

On the DHVM web site, there is a map showing Mooers Junction, NY. I noted both the D&H depot, and that of the Rutland.

I have Rutland train orders copied as Mooers, and also as Mooers Junction. Were these actually from two different locations? Or just a variation in how they were copied from one office? Or was there once an interlocking tower for the RUT vs D&H? I note an unlabelled square across the tracks from the Rutland depot. Could this have been a tower?

The map is of Mooers Jct. VT not NY [IMG]

So at this point even I am trying to determine what D&H Station this map is refering to historically. The D&H Depot that I know called Mooers Junction, NY which is no where close to Mooers Junction, VT :(

I hoping to go through some RUTLAND information and see if this is a "Typo" or given this is dated 1914 that something once existed that is gone and not well documented

In Mooers Junction, NY, there were two D&H Startions and if you look at the map closely there are two right next to each other hence the confusion of what state this is a map of [IMG]

It sure looks like Mooers Junction, NY in many ways though. Here is another map to add to the mix too...

Note that it references Mooers, NY on it about where Mooers Jct., NY would be as well as Mooers Forks.

    Darren-

VT must be a typo. [IMG] This should be on the line from West Chazy to Mooers Junction, NY. The oldest reference I can work from, is my 1916 Official Guide. It only shows NY for both Rutland and D&H. (Also mentions the Grand Trunk at Mooers Junction.)

I am adding two scans of a D&H 1922 map and you will find Mooers Jct. west of Rouses Point and just south of the US/Canadian border. It is in NY.

OK, I think I have looked deep enough through all my personal archives to say that Mooers and Mooers Junction are the same place and both the D&H and Rutland used these names to refer to the same place as well. The D&H called this line the Mooers Branch but in most cases refered to the Station/Depot as Mooers Junction. With that said, I did find a very old D&H Time Table (August 8, 1894) that labels the city as Mooers on the internal map while at the same time within the charts lists the stop as Mooers Junction. Looking though my limited Rutland material, they commonly list this City as Mooers rather than Mooers Junction hence the conflict in names. The D&H started the process to abandon the Mooers Branch in May 1923 and it was formally abandoned on February 7, 1925. In the 1998 SPV Railroad Atlas, they list this today as Mooers, NY. Compairing the D&H Map above that mistaken lists this as Mooers Junction, VT (rather than NY) matches perfectly to the streets in Mooers, NY today using Mapquest as a reference. No luck finding anything about a Tower being there or not; but, the map above sure looks as if there was one. [IMG]
