all red boxcar with the white logo and Shock Control on the right side of the door? I know they had 50' and Hi cube but have a couple of undec Microtrain 40" without roofwalk . I have couple of the 50' from Microtrains with this ,I think it looks good. Thanks Rick
I'd have to see it to be sure. I have in my N scale collection a Santa Fe 40 Box car, black roof and ends, red sides and white Santa Fe circle logo to the left of the doors and white lettering "Shock Control" on the right. If memory serves me correctly your and my model is authentic. You welcome Rick
Santa Fe owned 100 BX-83 40 foot boxcars numbers 17688-17832. On the right side, some had the 'DF' in a circle, others had 'SL' in a circle, some had no circle. Black ends and roofs, some had red roofs. They also had 100 BX-78 40 footers, numbered 16900-16999. Some of these had the small black 'A SMOOTHER RIDE' lettering under the Shock Control lettering. These also could be seen with the 'DF' or 'SL' in a circle. Hope that helps!
From the book 'Santa Fe freight in color', here's two of the 40 foot boxcars painted in the scheme you want.
EXCELLENT! Just what I was looking for.Just ordered the decals from Walthers thinking I'll do the 50' but I only had 40' undec so this works out perfect. Last question what red should I use? Thank you ! Rick
LOL, good answer. I guess that was a loaded question. So if I use red and not red then I should be fine with the red ,unless the other red is better than that red. Sorry ,got caried away. Thanks Rick:teeth:
Nice work Jerry. The first box is just like the one I was referring to. A word of appreciation. The kind of help Jerry provided to Rick is a real gift. I'm not one who has access to books, pictures and etc of various railroad equipment. Instead, I tend to pull up my memory bank and shot from the hip. Not always helpful or accurate. So, when I see someone take the time to scan a picture or provide a website and/or research a project...I can't help but be grateful. So, thanks to all who jump in providing... helpful guidance.
