Hi everyone, I have a small Digitrax system I acquired 3-4 years ago when my club converted to digital. I am at work and do not remember which model. I intend to use this for a new home layout which will commence construction over the summer. I intend to use some of the Loconet UP5 panels and a couple of UT1 throttles (easy for visitors) for the layout. My questions are: 1) If I acquire a locomotive on a UT1 throttle, does it stay acquired if the operator unplugs it and moves to another UP5 terminal? The layout will not be large, but it would be handy to move for switching operations. 2) Where do you acquire the RJ12 6 pin wire and fittings to link UP5 panels together? Thanks.
Yes, when you unplug a UT-1, or any other type of throttle, you still have control of your train as soon as you plug the throttle in again. The fittings and cable are available from several sources. I hear most people get it from Home Depot. I purchased mine along with a crimping tool from All Electronics http://www.allelectronics.com. Make sure the connectors are 6P6C (or is it 6C6P?) Another good source is Jameco Electronics. They also have splitters and in-line connectors which come in handy if you start using any stationary decoders or detection boards. David
Thanks. I will check out the website you suggested. It sounds like my local Lowes or Home Depot would also have them.
Another place took check out is Tony's at: http://tonysdcc.com/ or Loy's http://www.loystoys.com/ Harold
