Hi, I'd like information about the line mentioned in the title, such as if it's currently used or not, and how frequently it's used. I've been searching the internet for months and have found no information about it at all. If anyone has any information about it, please respond to this thread. If you're wondering, the Chicago Terminal Low Line (formerly owned by C&NW) branches off of the Harvard Subdivision a bit after Metra's Clybourn station.
Welcome to TrainBoard! I'm somewhat familiar with the area, but have never heard of it referred to as the Chicago Terminal Low Line. Leaving the Chicago passenger terminal, the mainline does indeed split at Clybourn. One line (the Kenosha Sub) heads north following the lakefront on to Milwaukee, WI and beyond. The other (the Harvard Sub) heads northwest to Madison, WI and beyond. I lived in the area in the 1970s, so my bit of knowledge is limited to C&NW ownership, not the Union Pacific's. This website may help familiarize you with Wisconsin Division stations. Both the Kenosha Sub and Harvard Sub are in the Wisconsin Division. https://www.chicagorailfan.com/rfmaup.html
Hardcoaler, that’s not the line I was talking about. The Chicago Terminal Low Line used to go over the Kinzie street railroad bridge, but now ends a bit after Grand avenue. I’d like to know if the currently existing section is still in regular use.
There are few Chicago area residents posting on TrainBoard. @MetraMan01 may be one. You might want to look into a Chicago railfan group for assistance with that that question.
