I have heard a rumor that there is some serious track work in progress on the former Soo branch into northeast Montana. By chance can anyone give me current information on activities in that area? BOXCAB! Rich Watson here. I may have some helpful info! I got some very nice Soo maps from the 70s give to me a couple of weeks ago by a gentleman I see out along the tracks every now and then, hes the third trick operator at roundout tower in ILL. from the maps I have I believe they are reopening a mine nine miles west of Flaxton at Lignite jct. There are also a good deal of grain elevators and some more on line business but not exactly sure how far west,Flaxton is MP540.4 west to whitetale at mp676.4 hope this is of help! Rich!
Rich- Ever since the big fire at Outlook a few years ago, a lot of us have been wondering how much time that line has left. Aside from seasonal grain loading, there isn't much.
