Well, can't help with the channels but heres a few of my favorite spots: Newcastle--- near the tunnel on the Eastbound side of I80 Bowman --- where both tracks come back together after being separted by Auburn, access off of Bowman road and Apple Lane or off Bell road exit. here take quick right then left on Musso then right on Chubb or just park in top lot of golf course. Clipper Gap--- Again quick right then left then right again under first set of tracks. Parking at next crossing. Walking E.bound the tracks come together again and lots of neat photo opps. Alta/Towle--- Quick right and left onto frontage road till split in road. Some cool spots here or take right split in road and follow till crossing. Heres another cool spot. If you Keep following this road you'll come to a spring on the side of the road and a dirt lot on your right. Park there and walk downhill to tracks. A very neat area. I believe this was called American Canyon at one time. This covers the lower part of the line. There are many many more great spots further up towards the summit. Hope this gets you started.
