SOmething I've been noticing on the UP in Oklahoma lately- while railfanning in Wagoner last weekend, and also while driving up US69 to far northeast OK on family matters, I seem to notice several freights on the UP running with DPU power. I have seen regular freights with AC diesels running with at least one locomotive on the front and one locomotive on the back in DPU mode. Those trains with SD70Ms are running with all power on front. I have seen coalies running with 2-1 power arrangements (2 front, 1 rear) so that's no surprise. But the same setup on manifest trains on track that is not known for mountainous grades is puzzling.
