    Hi HemiAdda2d,

Your N scale 1400 doesn't look not to bad either, it is just much bigger. :)

    All,

Can someone explain what the code 'LT.WT.48500 BHM. 10-78 (on caboose 01465)' on each side of a 1400 caboose means?

    Light Weight 48,500 pounds LT.WT 48500
BurnHaM Shops October 1978 BHM. 10-78

Basically it means that unloaded the caboose weigh 48,500 Lbs. The last repaint/shopping date was Oct 1978.

Nice looking caboose. Usually N scale look a lot more crude but that one had me thinking it was HO at first! Sweet!

Right now the only cabooses I own are 6 brass and 4 plastic.

    Overland:

    Steel 3 window (1 orange, 1 grande gold/silver single stripe, 1 unpainted)
    Rivited 3 window (1 orange, 1 unpainted)

    Division Point:

    Rivited 3 window (1 4-stripe)

    Plastic:

Atlas wide vision orange x 2
Roundhouse black 3 window (stand-ins for rivited black type)

Thanks, Jim! The sides I had laser-cut are not rivet-sides, they are actually tiny holes that look like rivets. Laser rastering is an amazing thing!

I have a batch of Trainworx brass side kits of more 01400's, but haven't started those yet.

    Hi,

Can anybody tell me what the color of the steps of a black 14xx caboose have? In the pictures I saw so far the look light gray, but could be aluminum color.

Here's a Grande cab all the way in California. I took this in the late 80s, early 90s:
