All, Looking for a good side, or 3/4 view photo of Rio Grande ALCo S2 #108. Could also use any information as to the status of the 108, if known. All I know, is the unit was sold to a deal in 1964, then sold again, to another railroad later in 1964. I do NOT know anything more than that right now. Want to see if any other owners of unit, from back then, or was the locomotive scrapped sometime since then. As folks may know, I recently acquired an original ALCo builders plate from the 108. The photo/owner list is being hung below plate, showing original owner and known ownership history. For example: DRGW #108 - ???? - ???? - ???? - Scrapped. Can post photo of another SP builders plate, for an idea of what I want to do. Gotta do it at later day/time though. I gotta get to bed!! I'm 3 hours late!! As always, any informationis much appreciated. Thanks.
All my books come up empty for that particular unit... I wish you luck. I would suggest searching the Denver Public Library western history collection. You might strike paydirt there.
I found this page, scroll down to the S-2 section. http://utahrails.net/drgw/rg-diesels-1.php http://s1023.photobucket.com/albums...rrent=WEIRTON-STEEL-215---EBAY-1.jpg&newest=1 those links should get you started.
