Alright so even though I am basically working on this to learn for The NEW C&L layout, decided to separate it from that thread and create it's own. Maybe I'm not as lazy as I thought? Have done some mock up and now time to start from the base up. Touch up some areas with paint, figure out where I want grass mat ( cause it's what I have and easier for now ), hedges, trees, signs, buildings, lights, etc... Hopefully I'll go slow, NOT, and fix the base part before moving on, I doubt it. Which means I'll be adding items only to remove them many times. This should be fun and I hope to learn a lot. Why Eads? Just needed another name and my brother used to leave in that county in the country till he moved recently. The measurements are approximate, but really close. I'll try to post updates in order as I complete an area, try.
Well I completely repainted the base even though most of it will be covered. Just looks better now. Clean slate now time to see what will go where. Also time to watch some more YT videos to get ideas.
First attempt at painting an EV charging pump, for lack of better word. Me no like it at all. My pens are starting to give me fits. Gonna try to clean the little nozzles, or might have to buy new ones, Or paint with brush, which is even worse for me. And I had high hopes, well not really, but was hoping. Looks awful Might just go for White for now, and think I have another label/decal, no one will know it's for Gas Cheater!
Cut some expansion joints gonna have to paint it, me thinks! Also try this white styrene piece for curbs, and of course paint it. Reason I am working on this to learn, once again. Found out I suck at cutting expansion joints Maybe I can fix it? Extra stuff from Walthers Modern Gas Station to kitbash for Silver Lighting EV charging station, if it works? Silver Lighting EVC ( Electrical Vehicle Charging ) station. Silver charges in 2 hours, White 6 hours. Just a mock up, using those awesome Glue Dots. Have to figure out how to add a sign to white pole, plus I have 2 if I need them. And might change locations too! This is fun, never kit bashed anything. Also painted over expansion joints Once again, regular viewing angle fine, camera shows all faults
Here is the Electrical Charging Station in a shopping center with a Best Buy, retail stores, and food chains nearby. I don't have the room on the diorama for all that, so just one will have to do for now. I'll take some better pictures next time I am in that area. Right around the corner from me.
Here's another example. The large units on the left are high capacity, fast chargers. The ones on the right are more mundane Level 2 chargers. If you just model the smaller chargers, you don't need the large electrical boxes. Stay safe,
Thanks, kind of a Green color too on the ground Was thinking about adding EV on the ground or a lighting bolt if I can? Only have one Yellow pole extra, might need to try and make some more? I'll try to put something for the parking area. If I screw up I'll paint over it and try again Mocking it up for now! Just messing around trying to figure it out Ordering some Brother P-Touch CLEAR tape for my labels. Can use it on turn out switches also, etc... Can use it for my Aylas U25B locomotives too that are all the same pretty much and have them labeled with painters tape right now for the DCC controller addresses. Um, top on my electrical pump is leaning
Have you noticed that None of the EV charging stations have roofs on them? Apparently it doesn't rain on Electric Vehicles as they have a force field around them, get it, electrical, force field, I'll be here all week Planning on mine having one, IF, I can figure it out and make it look decent?
The boss of Eads Construction is having a party at his house. Rented an Ice Cream truck, people can canoe in tiny pond ( not really ), and best of all FREE helicopters rides, and if they own an EV, he will pay for a Full charge at the nearby station right across the street, and best of all, rail fanning for the tracks across the street and the CSX ES44DC pulling freight Can't get any better then that Notice the broken Stop Sign in the back of the white service truck
From the Walthers Modern Gas Station kit Obviously it hasn't been updated since it was originally released? And I'll tell you a secret, they aren't real
And all you did was lightly blow on that plastic posted stop sign and it broke off and fell over...right ?
No I hit it with my big fat fingers and it snapped They are so tiny, almost invisible. But they are very brittle for sure! I still like them a lot for the price though. And the signs really add detail I've never had before and I have a ton more of them to use in the future.
Some updated photos of Eads diorama. Added some more figures, speed limit signs, orange cones ( one feel over ), jersey blocks, and some construction equipment, etc...
Alright got the CLEAR tape for the Brother P-Touch label maker. Not perfect, but it will work for me. Eventually I will take the Glue Dots clear plastic piece away or cut it down smaller for the figures. If I leave them on the clear base I can move them around on the layout for different scenes. Same thing with the EV labels. Silver Lighting charging station. Not bad for my first Electrical Vehicle Charging Station. Live and learn! Man all the little details make so much difference on the diorama, figures, hedges, orange cones, ice cream truck and figures, etc... I've never gotten this far or so detailed on a layout before. Testing it all on the diorama for now And the speed limit and handicapped, stop, signs are awesome. Even if like @mtntrainman says if you breath on them they snap But I have a ton of them for now! Repair crews will be busy when they move to the main layout Once again from normal viewing distance I can't see all the flaws
@mtntrainman Oh it was the vehicle that took out the sign. Not my fat fingers Opened up my RPS Sheriff F-SERIES Super Duty--SUPER CREW CAB, SRW pickup truck's tonight, finally. had them for month's. Also have to open Fire Department and Public Works vehicles. Of course the driver was under the influence, of something! Time to make some tiny handcuff's
