Something that is in my opinion fantastic has happened for railfans and photographers. Almost a year ago Google bought a company called keyhole and has now converted the service to free for most features. I would like to hope that the users of this forum will provide long/latitude positions of the areas of interests so we can get a visual fix on them via this service. Check it out at: http://earth.google.com/
Looks interesting. I'll have to give it a try later this evening. I know what longitude and latitude are. But not how to apply them in this instance. Guess I'd make a lousy sailor. Boxcab E50
That is an AWESOME site, thanks. I found our house, and we must have been having a family gathering when the photo was taken. I saw our son's truck, and our grandson's and granddaughter's cars in the driveway. That is great clarity!
I have been playing with it some more tonight and have found that the resolution is indeed much better than with maps.google.com. The flexibility is amazing. I am wondering how google will be able to afford the bandwidth. They're going to have to tie in advertising somehow eventually (I don't think that is a bad thing, nothing is free). But I don't yet see a simple way to copy and paste a location like you can with maps.google.com. When that can be discovered, I hope that pasting links from there will be a routine part of discussions.
