I myself will be planning on going on Saturday and do my usual photo taking and interviewing. If anyone wants specific G scale pictures or information because you can't attend the show, please make your request here. For those who are new to the board and G scale, the ECLS Train Show is a G only train show in which Clubs, Manufacturers and Reatailers attend this show. So if you have a specific manufacturer you want to get pictures of products or club displays please let me know. I try to get a few pictures of everything.

Please also remember to stay within the rules, we can't talk about retailers here, but however I did get a exception for distributors. So for example, talking about Walthers is allowed as long as you only refer to them with LGB products, Charles Ro is allowed as long as you only refer to them for USA Trains as both sell other products, but are distributors also. Hobby stores are only allowed when refering to a custom train that no other hobby store can sell, no links or prices are allowed.

So with that being said, lets have fun and make your request here. Any subject material not allowed here, you can always pm me and I can send you information to your e-mail address.

A Month to go before the fall show

It's about a month before the East Coast Large Scale Train show will be here, but it seems it's been a little on the quiet side, even from the forum the helps host the show. I'm hoping it will be better than 2009. If you remember, the ECLS fall train show in 2009 was a comlete disappoinment. If they are to have a fall show maybe they should make it in October instead.

The vendor and manufacturer names that will be attending won't be released until the begining of Septemeber. I'm hoping this 2010 fall show will be better, but with no alot of talk about it going around makes me wonder. If this one doesn't do good I'm sure it won't go on again for 2011.

There probably won't be alot of new products on hand as most of the new releases come out near the end of the year, just in time for Christmas. Hopefully I will get to see some prototypes.

I will make sure to ask Charles Ro about when he might release names for the new auto rack they are coming out with and I want to see when the 2 bay ACF hopper car might come out also, that was suppose to be spring 2010 and here we are heading into the back end of summer.

Well first off on my behalf, I'd like to ask Charlse Ro about the Auto Carriers, specificially did he use the real measurements of them and then scale them down and will the road names be on the carbody while the flatcar remains in yellow "TTX"? And of course what the road names are going to be.

Second, Anything, information, pictures, reguarding the PCC Trolley from Aristocraft. And if they are considering doing a second wave if the second wave could include the famous Green Hornet CTA Unit.

You are not the only one who has questions for Mr. Charles Ro. I would like to know what happened to the 2 bay ACF hopper car that was promised to us this spring. It's not like USA Trains to make a announcement schedule and not stick to it.

I'm used to it from Aristocraft........How long has Aristo been trying to come out with the trolley and the RDC which was finally released. I really wanted that SD-9 loco, but Aristo withdrew the announcement along with the cylinder hopper car..........more disappointment. My personal opinion is that Arisot should concentrate more on making trains rather than trying to expand thier Crest electronics end of thier buisness or else they could end of like LGB. Let another manufacturer make the DCC and DC electronics for you and just make the interface for the company you want to team up with, this gives more developement time for trains rather than accessories.

On another note, I think it's also a big mistake for Aristo to get involved in the live steam market, they are spreading themselves pretty thin.

Two more weeks and I'm off to the Large Scale Train show in York PA and I'm really looking forward to this show. I will do a couple of my regular interviews as usual. Charles Ro of USA Trains and Dave Sauders of Bridgewerks Transformers are 2 of my normal stops for questions and answers. If Walthers is there I will get updates on LGB also.

Due to no hobby store or vendor names rules on Train Board I will NOT be posting any pictures with Hobby Shop names in them, sorry. I have to follow the rules just like everyone else.

I have one last favor to ask, EMD, if Shamut is there, would you be kind enough to ask him what it would cost to do a custom High Nose on an aristocraft SD45 in BN Paint? Hotmail is not letting me get emails to him for some reason.

I just arrived home back from the 2nd Annual East Coast Large Scale train show.
I was disappointed to say the least as to how small it was in comparison to last
years 2009 Fall show and the 2010 spring show. I went today (Saturday) and there
was not alot of people there, if I counted 50 people that was alot. Also a few
clubs did not show up as many could not afford to come out for the Fall show.
Also there was manufacturers who did not show up either. Missing in action was
Hartland Lococmotive works, Walthers to represent LGB, MTH Trains, Phoenix Sound
Systems were amoung the major manufacturers who did not show up. I think the
show was desperate to fill vendor booth slots as there was a knife cuttlery
booth at the show and I thought to myself, what does kitchen knives have to do
with trains? The show was so slow, many vendors started to pack up at 2pm and
that is when I left also.

Rumor has it there was a 2 year contract signed for hosting the "Fall" ECLS
show, but the future of the fall version show may be doomed. Rumors were flying
around at the show this could possibly be the last "Fall" ECLS show at York, PA.
Even if they decide to host another two years, many vendors stated they would
not return for any more "Fall" ECLS shows.

For more info please visit my site, thanx.

    Poor attendance

    EMD,
It is indeed sad to hear about the poor attendance of the Fall ECLS show. I think it really is just a sign of the times, that the economy just isnt back yet. If the recession is over, as the administration says, then I just dont see it, and it hasnt trickled down to the hobby industry. I have a friend who is in his late 30's, who has worked in the hobby industry pretty much his whole adult life.......both in trains, (HO and N) and most recently in R/C aircraft. He was working for a major hobby retailer in the midwest, until last week, and after over 5 years of service, was laid off. He has no prospects of work, and says the modeling industry will see trouble for quite a while. People just dont have the $ to continue their hobbies, and manufacturers are reluctant to go to shows when there will be poor attendance. Truly sad.
I can only hope the shows for our hobbies dont go away all together.

Thanks for all the info you brought back for us!!

    D
