I have family in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia and plan on visiting them this spring and was wondering if there are any places near Fredricton NB or Ahmerst NS that are good spots to photograph trains?Theres a cool high bridge in Chipman NB that I would love to catch a train on but how often is this line used would it be a all day wait for one train?I would really like to see a train in Springhill jct.as this place is walking distance from my uncles house.Lastly,I once saw a passenger train (Via's Ocean?)passing through Maccan (Near Ahmerst)and it was Flying! Is there anywhere I can get info on it's schedule?Preferably on line?Thanks for any help!
Dunno about next Spring, but when we were at Port Hawkesbury or Sidney, NS in Sept. '96, we were blocked by four beautiful Alco's doing local switching. I forget the railroad name, but they were shiny black with a bright red Rampant Lion as their logo. I was so facinated by their chortling sound and black exhaust, that I completely forgot the camera that was lying against my butt on the car seat. Dangerboy, I assume that you are driving through New Brunswick on your way to Nova Scotia. If you could tell me which way you are coming in the province, I could probably help you.
I just take the Trans Canada to Fredricton where I turn off to go to Minto.This is where my brother lives,so will be a base for a few days.Then when I leave for NS,I will take either the Trans Canada from Fredricton or "the back way"sorry I don't have any maps handy but I would get back on the Trans Canada at Moncton(near Magnetic Hill.)Once in Ahmerst,I go to the River Hebert,Joggins area.Thanks for your reply.
There's quite a bit of good action around St. John and Moncton, NB and also the station at Amherst, Nova Scotia is beautiful. Charlie
