Hi! I'm new to the forum (I'll do an intro in the other section).

I have a Bachmann F9 Engine and it stopped working. When I removed the body cover, I found a single black wire coming out of the front truck which was disconnected. I attempted to figure out where to connect it. Here's what I did.

First, I looked at another F9 I have which is also a Bachmann, but it is a different year (not sure which is newer). The one I have issues with has two curved copper contacts which travel down the rear truck to make contact with and provide power to the wheels. I discovered a solder connection that appeared to be where the black wire disconnected. This connection only had 1 wire connected to it, a red wire, while the other connector had two wires, a red and a green. So I attached the black wire to the terminal with only one red wire which was where it appeared a solder connection had broken.

My assumption, following the path of the wires was that there needed to be a complete closed loop in order for the engine to power up and work. Seemed logical, and it seemed reconnecting the black wire at this location completed the loop or electrical path.

So now, when I put the engine on the track, this is what happens. IF I put both sets of trucks on the track I get nothing. However, if I lift either the front or the rear truck off the track, then the headlight lights up. But the engine will not move.

So if any one can give me an idea of what to look for, correct or other notion to try please let me know! Thanks in advance for any help which anyone can provide.
