Hey Modelers! I have a new idea I'd like to try out with the modeling photo challenges so I'm going to use this weekend to give it a test run. There will be some key differences from the way the challenges are normally run, however the general submission guidelines will remain the same. The major difference this weekend will be that every member will have the option to submit up to 4 images (the number of images allowed per post). The catch is that all 4 images must together tell a story of railroading. The story can as simple as four shots of a roll-by, or something more complex like following a hobo hop trains to get from one place to another. Be creative, but be sure to have a linking element from photo to photo. I'm still undecided if this will be required or not, but certainly a paragraph or two will be helpful to briefly explain what is going on in the Four Photo Narrative so be thinking about how to present the story as well. I'll explain the guidelines in more detail when the challenge is posted, but I just wanted to give everyone a few days notice so they may begin thinking up ideas. Feel free to leave comments or suggestions.
Neat idea, Mark! Questions: my blog (and my published articles) are mostly set up this way. Would that be considered an unfair advantage for me? I could rip out about ten four-photo sequences from my blog alone. And posts from my layout tour are already structured exactly that way. So I would sit out this one. Or is a criterion that it be new photos? That would eliminate the advantage. Mark, I haven't been participating in the contests much, so pardon me if my questions are ignorant of rules.
Excellent idea, Mark! This will be very interesting to see! And thanks for the advance warning... It will take some time to think up some ideas... One clarification (you'll probably cover this in the rules)... must it be *exactly* 4 pictures? (I vote "yes" - it makes the challenge that much more challenging)
No worries, you've asked perfectly legitimate questions. Yes, one of the guidelines is that the photo (in this case photos) must be taken after the rules post of each weekend challenge. While there's really little in the way of someone using old photographs, the nature of these weekend challenges gives little benefit to "cheating" (you dont win anything except a little icon, which technically, anyone could steal and display anyways ) It's all about having fun sharing photos while targeting a specific topic.
