Can you help.... I would like a video tape showing the exploded view of a working model of a railway steam engine, showing the passage of steam etc.. Does such a video exist - or perhaps something available on the web? Thanks BigByGum
BigByGum, welcome to Trainboard. There is a video available from Classic Railroad Books entitled "Running a Steam Locomotive" which I think is one I once owned. It is a very small locomotive, but the engineer explains everything in detail and it applies to all steam locomotives. I see you reside in UK, and don't know if toll free telephone numbers work internationally, but they have a number 1-800-826-6600. The same business advertises a book, "The Engine Driver's Manual" published in UK, written by Brian Topping. There was (is?) a site on this net which had tutorial videos on how a steam engine worked, valve gear functions, etc. but I can't remember where that is. Other Trainboard members, help me with that one?
Hello BigByGum, Welcome to Trainboard Do you come from Yorkshire by any chance? You could try asking Ian at Steam Powered Video, or check the website SPV or some of the other video suppliers in the UK. I will have a look round and see what I can find.
