Yeah, eye candy indeed. Thanks for posting that link, some really fascinating photos on there. :tb-biggrin:
Those are a real treat to look through. Incredible. Interesting that they are refueling the Sueer Chief in one from tank cars.
These pix show up every 3-4 months when somebody "discovers" them for their 1st time. Most of these are Jack Delano pix. http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?138973-AMERICA-IN-COLOR-1939-1943&highlight
Great cache! Some of those were hard to get--color film in those days was about ISO 64 or slower. Someone was using a tripod... In picture twenty, am I mistaken or does that have to be number 5000? I can't think of any other Santa Fe engine with pumps on the pilot beam and an ELESCO feedwater heater over the smokebox.
It looks like it could be #5000 after enlarging the image. And if it is she was known as the "Madame Queen".
Yes, that's Madame Queen. I realize that Jack Delano's photos keep showing up, but (at least to me) some of these are different from the usual batch. :tb-biggrin:
