Feb Trains spells out the proper way (?) to spell and pronounce the word for multi number of the caboose. The new editor mentions that in the past 20 years cabooses left the railroading scene. (pg.4) I have never seen the proper way to mention multiple cabeese (in the past ?). So if she is correct as the editor, then for me its settled, the word isn't cabeese its cabooses. Sort of sounds weird but makes sense. Take Care, Mike
What! Cabooses! Who ever heard of such a thing. Must be a bunch of Harvard graduates. On a more reflective note... I thought everyone was joking when they said, "cabeese," anyway. I sort of enjoyed the humor of using the cabeese word. Sort of like mice and meese, moose and meese, etc. Maybe I am confusing that alliteration?
Lenny I was talking about how to pronounce them in the model RR forums I don't think it would be decent or proper for me to say what we called those bay window hell traps we used, as the crews looked with envy at some nice "vans" that other roads used. I would had rather been assigned a U30C then spend a hour in a "van" during August getting my guts shook up. Now neither of those options would make your dinner settle well ~Mike
I think the ride usually came down to what kind of underframe and trucks they rode on. The more modern cabooses had "cushion" underframes.
goose - geese caboose - cabeese makes sense to me but then there is Jaskass - jackii hippopotomus - hippopotomi caboose - cabii woooo hooooooooooo
