don't need the SD40-2 as is, so painted it up in a roadname i liked: MKT. other works in progress. dave f.
Yup... definitely going to have to save a few pages in Ztrack for 'Once upon a SD40-2". All I can say is beautiful... simply beautiful. The BNSF with swoosh is too cool! Dave, what a fun choice with MKT. I just love the different roads. I can't wait to see what you guys will come up with next!! Rob
Nice work Hien and David. I love all the details you guys add to the engines. Maybe this will give a little kick start to my own repaint.
Great job Hien and Dave, very well executed! Like the choice of roadnames! Looking forward to see more!
Great job you guy's!! Now who will be the first to do a Milwaukee Road -2? Remember to shorten the tanks.
WOW!!!!! Jaw dropping class, these would have to be the best re-paints I have ever seen in Z.....Fantastic, please post pics of any other re-paints. Inspirational modeling...
Great repaint jobs! And what happens with the sample under Ferromex paintscheme? Still running somewhere? Dom
Hien finished the green one: I STILL have not received mine, and the repaints are stacking up by everyone else!
Man you guys got me itching for SD40's. I'd like to do up one in NS and another in CR/NS paint out to join it: http://www.danstrainyard.us/webphotos/conrail/SD40-2/CR%206366%20Altoona%201%204%2009001.JPG How tight a curve will they run on say coupled to a 60' car?
They work pulling everything we have in house around a 195mm curve. The Marklin 145 is questionable, it hobbed a bit due to the length between the wheel centers on each of the trucks...we removed the flange on the center wheels and that helps on 160mm and above. Joe
Joe, I like the modified coupler box MTL as on the SD40-2. It allows a greater coupler swing which is very affective on the 195mm curves. I was worried since historically body mount couplers don't play nice on the longer locos when it comes to less than 220mm curves, but this design works great. Rob
Has the board and dcc issue been worked out? Anyone successfully install the TC decoder or the digitrax?
I'd like to hear more about the coupler box? You know I'd want to try and suck the couplers in. Good to hear they work on curves. What about decals? are there any Z scale NS or CR decals out there?
Yoshy, at least for me, the Digitrax is out. I cant installed it without getting a short. I am still trying to install the TC, but its time consuming to file the post little by little.
