Currently we have a an ex-SP SD40T-2 on the Reno local. It's renumbered to 8862, will have to look on the computer when I have time to see if the SP number is still on the UP computers. Pretty good runner still. Greg
Another neat one. NWP #3844 GP9 blt in 1959. Ex SP #3844, nee SP #3700, nee SP #5837. Chopnosed by Omnitrax.
Here is an SD7 or 9 (You SP fans will know) I found at the IL Railway Museum back in May of 2006. Jim
IIRC, there is something special about this engine. It was the first SD7 or it is the engine with the most paint schemes...something.
The 1518 was originally EMD Demo 990. Espee bought it in 1952 and later added the Barrel lights to both ends. When the unit was rebuilt in the 1970's the light stack replaced the barrel lights and one fuel tank was removed. This unit had four numbers while on the Espee.
That's right; I remember now. Here is a page from Richard Percy's Espee Modeler's Website. At one time, this engine had dual controls and red wings on both ends.
Wow, thanks for the info about the engine in my picture. I knew you SP fans would know something about it. The locomotive resides at the IL Railway Museum in Union IL. I used to live near the museum when I worked for Testor. Jim
Today I was down at the UP yard in Southwest AZ and found these two just dead head. Its a shame to see them with that yellow UP placard over the original SP numbers.
Not to play musical threads here but check out the vid on this page for those who haven't already seen it. Cheers... Your favorite SP loco model?? - Page 5 - TrainBoard.com
This one has been in the Grand Junction yard this weekend. I caught these two in a power move passing through Palisade, CO today. Ben
Un-Patched Beauty Here's a few pictures of old SP 352 that I was able to capture today. In the yard: On the move: Ben
