this is my first attempt at weathering a boxcar, what do you think? [ 13. March 2003, 08:48: Message edited by: Colonel ]
I did this in about 15 minutes using the teniques in John Pryke's article in february Model Railroader.Lotsa fun and they worked!!
I'm planning on using those Turtle Creek decals on an Accurail Data Only boxcar I've got stashed downstairs. I want to do it as a family project so my kids can help (maybe!). I mentioned it to my older son, and he asked,"Can we weather it, too?" Maybe next time! Pat
You did an excellent and artistic job! It really looked like a real box car, until I noticed the crack in the roadbed. If you had placed the car where that did not show, I would be hard pressed to decide if it was a model or the real thing!
Alexander, I took the liberty of resizing your photo so it can be seen without scrolling (also removed the crack in the roadbed, Wayne)
Thanks Alan I actually chaged the link on the original pic to the one you modified. Thats an excellent weathered boxcar, it is amazing how weathering makes the model look so much more realistic. I have weather most of my hoppers but still have so much more to do.
Thanks Alan,it looks great!.I think the thing to remember when doing this is Not to overdo it,if it starts to look right and your thinking of adding more,STOP!!!!!You can allways add more. Thanks for all the support!!
