Just picked up a cheapy digital camera and thought I would post some picks of my N scale Wascana Short Line. The layout is just in the beginning stages of scenicking right now. If any of you are coming to the PNR NMRA regional meet in Regina on the Canada Day long weekend you'll have a chance to see it in person. The pictures are of my Sherwood Grain terminal.

Very nice! That is the type of grain silo that I am looking for. Is that a kit? If so who makes it? Thank-you for any reply and Happy railroading!

That is Walthers ADM Grain Terminal with Add-on Silos. It makes a pretty impressive grain terminal.

Looks like you're going to have a fair size layot on your hands when you are done. Looking good so far.

Nice grain elevator! Reminds me of the one on the West side of the CNR Calder Switchyard in Edmonton Alberta.

I envy you guys being able to put your pictures on Trainboard. I wish I could.

I don't lack the equipment as I am using a state of the art Toshiba 3.3 mega pixle digital camera with all the closeup, telephoto and wide angle lenses along with seven sets of photo flood lights with reflectors that give the zillion candle power lighting that is needed to get good depth of field. The computer it is all connected to has 512 megs of ram, a 200 MGHz bus, a 20 GB harddrive, a 64mb graphics card, is equiped with Corel Draw 8.0, Corel Photo Paint 8.0, Photoshop 6.0, Paintshop Pro 7, Adobe Photo Delux 3.1 and has a 21" monitor, and I can work it all. But do you think I can figure out how to get my pictures on train board?

I feel like a guy who lives in Bermuda, has just bought a new Maserati and doesn't have a drivers licence yet.

I did manage to get a photo I took with this equipment, on the Kato Site Photo Gallery. But it was Kato USA's staff expertise that was able to accomplish that. The picture is of one of my detailed Mikados, #3724 and the original was taken at 2250 X 1574 pixels and was about 3500 woo woo woo in size. I had to downsize it, using Photo Wizard, to about 700 KB in order to be able to send it to them. I find that most servers, particularly those not on cable, limit us to a 1.5MB email.

I have a 2ft X 6 1/2 ft diarama of a typical small Canadian Prarie town with three old wooden grain elevators in it, and a switchyard in construction that is 3 ft. X 14.5 ft. that I would love to show on Trainboard, especially to persons just starting to build a town. The town diarama has been in production for about 20 years and it all will eventually be incorporated into a big layout.

I'm really looking forward to the arrival of the new proposed simplified system of putting photos on Trainboard.

    PICTURES....ONE OF THESE DAYS!

Thanks for your reply Grant! I am going to have to get me one of them (eventually). Keep up the great work and keep us informed. BTW, are you going to be going at the layout one scene or portion at a time or basically all at once? Looks like you have a big layout going there!

My layout would be small by many peoples standards. It is housed in a 12 x 13 foot room in my basement. The track runs around the four walls and I use a duck under to access the centre operating pit.

Essentially a double track line (designated Branch and Main) runs around the room with a major classification yard and engine terminal on one side of the room and the grain terminal on the other.

Thanks for the nice comments and I'll try to keep some updated photos posted. I have a big job ahead as my intention is to have it all scenicked by the end of June.

BTW: My cheapy camera is a Jamcam 3.0 which appears to be good enough for posting photo's to the web anyhow but not so hot for anything else. I bought it retail for $50 Canadian. That should be about 25cents US (probably closer to $30 US).

    Grant,

A 12 X 13 layout is a heck of a good size. Your duck under idea is good and even though I have a much bigger room and I'll going to reconsider the idea of a duck under now. It would solve a lot of problems for me too.

Your so called cheapy Jamcam takes pretty good pictures, certainly good enough to keep anybody interested in what you are achieving on your fast track construction.

A lot of us wouldn't be able to complete a 12 X 13 ft room with a scenicked layout in years.

Look'n forward to seeing more of your pictures.
