My recent trip to the Midwest was for a class reunion. I did plan extra time for seeking out rail sites. One spot was in Elkhart, Indiana, at the National New York Central RR Museum. I will have a few pix of their displays later. One especiallty nice feature was a platform next to their fence that allowed the chance for some excellent railfan shots. I am not sure who owns the tracks outside the museum fence, but it was busy with a variety of power. The first train to come through was led by CSX. It wasn't ore than a few minutes later when this train came from the other direction. It looks like the Conrail unit in the lead needed some extra cooling. The station in the background is the Elkhart passenger station. And an ND unit in position two. A parting look at the second train's power.
Peirce- According to my 2002 Official Guide, those tracks are owned by NS. The way power is so scrambled up these days, it's sure tough to guess. Nice to see an intact, substantial depot. By any chance does Amtrak use it? Boxcab E50
