    Hi all.
Although I have a white metal LNER A3 'Flying Scotsman' running on the layouts the Atlas editions one looked too good a conversion opportunity to miss particularly as it has the double chimney.

I've ground out as much as I dare but the top of the Marklin motor is forcing the cab sides out

I've thinned the cab sides as much as possible but my question is can you skim some meat off the outside of the top of the motor (Where the knife blade is pointing)?

or will it just fall apart?

I know the wheelbase isn't quite right but speeding along the tracks at a show I don't think anyone will notice

    Hi Kev,

I milled a Marklin motor smaller some years ago to make a BR64. I didn't noticed any lack of performance.

Imagine if 'Flying Scotsman' had never made it back to the U.K after its U.S tour and the financial collapse of the operators.

Still at Dunsmuir in the company of a venerable Alco FA1

In reality the Atlas editions one now with the cab settling smugly over the slimmed down Marklin motor. I still have to replace the tender wheels but its getting there but it is very light. Once I've got this one started I'll make a start on the Streamlined Southern Railway Bulleid Pacific also in the same series which should be a bit easier

    More info to come
