I just discovered this web site doing a search of SMOKE CONSUMERS. I was raised in Greensburg IN, and was very interested in LEW description of the ‘throttle malfunction’ he described in the SMOKE CONSUMER thread.

My interest is virtual railroading. I use a program called TRAINZ http://www.auran.com/TRS2004/default.htm to show the animation and a program called GMAX to generate the images. TrainBoard is going to be a great help in my research about how things worked. The smoke consumer is a good example.

You can go the following web site to see an example of one of my creations.

Bill, welcome to Trainboard. Your virtual NYC is quite impressive. I think we would all like to go back in time to that era. LEW has a wealth of experience stored up, running steam on the Big 4 right near where you were raised. You may want to go to the Fallen Flags New York Central forum (Well that's where we are!) and select posts from the last year or so and see what else has been discussed regarding the operation of steam engines and their appliances. Also, you can find many of LEW;s stories and photos on the RRsofMadCty web site at:
    http://madisonrails.railfan.net/

Just chack the Memory page and the Photo Album page.
