Ed M should buy it for his railfan trips in Mexico.

I also like, on the same site, a lot of approx. 22,000 155mm shells, that have to be demilitarized before leaving the site. Being a Canadian, I'm probably not eligible to buy the shells.

    Dave.

PS. The starting bid for the diesel is $50.00

Wow. It's got "rolling bearing brakes." Better bid now.

An Alco 606A with roller bearing trucks?? Must have been a retro fit. The Alco 22 brake stand tells me the loco has had some sort of rebuild. A what are roller bearing brakes?

What would someone do with those shells, unless it is just to recycle the metal?

Maybe you could find a U.S. citizen to be a proxy buyer. :tb-biggrin:

Wow, four Baldwin switchers! Surely, out of four, one or two can be made to run. Sure would be nice to see at least another one running again.

I'm curious about the "roller bearing brakes". I thought brake shoes were designed to drag creating lots of friction to dissipate energy and slow the vehicle. Roller bearings are normally used to reduce friction.:tb-wink:

The bearings themselves are "roller bearing" type instead of the old version which were brass journals that you had to oil regularly like the old time boxcars.
I wonder how much to ship it Covington here? Oh, and paint it GN orange and green!:teeth:
