    Final reminder... event this Saturday!

    The Denton Public Library, the Denton County Historical Society and the City of Denton encourage you to attend a series of railroad discussions on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the Emily Fowler Central Library. The presentations will be:

    "The Katy Railroad - Our State's Original Trans-Texas Corridor"

    Presented by Steve Allen Goen, well known Texas historian and author of a series of books featuring the railroads of the State of Texas will be at the Emily Fowler Central Library, Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 2:30 pm, to present a multimedia program featuring the MKT railroad. His presentation will feature a collection of vintage passenger train slides showing how the Katy operated its TEXAS SPECIAL, KATY FLYER and BLUEBONNET passenger trains down
    the I-35 and Trans-Texas Corridors well before an Interstate Highway and TTC system was ever planned. Copies of all eight of Goen's books will be available for sale.

    This will be followed by: "Riding the Rails in Denton" by James Nance which will feature photos of rail activity in and around Denton.

    Join us at the Emily Fowler Library, Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 4:00 pm for a fascinating trip through the life of the railroad in Denton. Local historian and railroad aficionado James Nance be our guide complete with photographs of the journey and tantalizing tidbits of local history.

    The Emily Fowler Central Library is located at 502 Oakland in downtown Denton. It is not all that far away from Silver Spike Hobbies.
