Who is "anti-bob"? Someone who has something against Robert? And when we run modules at train shows, there are usually no grades. So the less drag on a train, the longer the trains we can run. When I come to Portola, I will only bring AZL or FVM equipped MTL cars. Let's run some long trains! And I put the FVM's on seven 60' bulkhead flat cars today. David L.
received my little FVM wheely wonders today and took time out from the motor repair to compare Marklin to FVM: FVM-Marklin on Marklin (FVM on the rusty one): MTLtoFVM (not that there will be anymore MTL plastic wheels to compare to!) my first obs: very nice precision wheelsets, make the marklin wheels look downright clunky and give the marklin cars a pleasing "low-rider" look.
my answer to retarders was to use Nelson Grey trucks and wheels in the last car in the train so on a caboose or a car with a fred. This keeps the train strung out as these trucks did not roll very well due to the plastic used. However one truck with retarder springs should as well if you are using plastic wheels but if you have metal wheels might need then on all four axles. Metal cones on copper won't slow it down to the same extent it will with delrin wheels. cheerz Garth
Thanks for the idea Robert, but it won't solve my problem as I'm doing switching operations and my trains consist of cars set randomly. So I guess I'll have to put the anti-bob spring on every car. Otherwise I've no data about this device. Any link or input to submit here? Dom
Dom, one of the advantages of the new FVM wheels is that it doesnt sling as much. Maybe because it doesnt drag as much, so it keeps rolling. Theres is still some, but its not as noticeable.
Just a note. Matt, owner of FVM, says a second larger run is already in the works. He was surprised how quickly they sold out.
