Can anyone point me to a site where I could find some color pic's of FP7 unit along with passenger cars of the period the canadian possibly. Have some FP units HO that I would like to turn into CP, thanks in advance.
In the 1950's the Canadian had the FP7's & FP9's in the maroon and grey colours. The passenger cars had a maroon letterboard with a smaller maroon stripe just under the windows. As for a site try "Fallen Flags" The Walthers Budd cars can be used for some of the passenger cars on the Canadian. The coach and dome are close. Might check with "Rapido Trains and ask if they are planning any prototypicaly correct models. The Con-Cor dome obs with the light removed from the roof could be used and it comes in the Canadian 1950's paint. Hope that helps.
Pierre, The above refers to the Royal Canadian Pacific http://www8.cpr.ca/cms/English/RCP/default.htm and Chris vanderHeide has a couple of pictures that should help painting the locomotives especially pictures 4 - 7 - http://vanderheide.ca/trains.html Your address is in Laval, so you should be able use the inter library system to get a copy of "Nicholas Morant's Canadian Pacific" by J.F. Garden - ISBN 0-9691621-3-8 Morant was the official photographer for the Canadian Pacific Railway. This is an excellent publication, and he devotes a 40 page chapter to the "Canadian" with lots of passenger car and locomotive pictures. As to which colours to use, try contacting Robert Kirkham rdkirkham@shaw.ca at the Canadian Pacific Historical Association - CP colours project. http://www.cpsig.ca/cpcolours/main.html Hope this helps. Cheers, Milne
