Interesting stuff coming up here. The Klingon idea may be a bit more then I was thinking about, but logically I would think most any developed civilization would have had rail transportation of some kind at some point. Look at a lot of scifi movies set in the future and they often have some form of rail transportation depicted in it. On a semi related footnote, I got the two Santa Fe hats in the mail today that I bought online just in time for Christmas, so have have something to wear instead of the ham radio hat I was wearing
That's easy do, Just a long stretch of rusted, overgrown track, with a few spurs the same. Throw in a few abandoned rusting collapsing factories next to them and you have many of what is left of Central and South American railroads.hboy: And you don't even need to make it up.
Sad, but true. In my paperwork collecting, I've tried to research a few such companies. Some are almost as if they just turned out the lights and walked away.
The 'Grey and Grandure' is a short line in a valley with links to the 'Great Northern' and 'Canadian Pacific'.
I thought that was California. Oh, forget it... California is the Unnatural State...:teeth:
I've thought about that one. I imagine it being similar to the Papal railway. Which is a real thing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rail_transport_in_Vatican_City
At 15 square miles, it's somewhat bigger than the Vatican and could allow some freight and mixed trains, between the capital and the countryside. One could have a mix of European and American (war booty?) rolling stock. It would be narrow gauge. There's a big potential for fun in there.
I should add that in my world the GN absorbed the Union Pacific. The only gray and armour yellow is patched locos and cars.
Oh, and yes, I have considered a link to, "Sodor", but that depends on a lot. Maybe the RR car ferry can go there. //Psst: For non-Thomas acquainted people, 'Sodor' is the name of the island where 'Thomas the Tank Engine' exists.
I'll have to keep that in mind. For now does this work? From: To: And: These were never repainted due to budgetary restraints.
Yup. Sometimes for a chuckle, while eating lunch I turn on the TV and watch that show. Not as good as back in old days. I rather liked it when Ringo and George Carlin were "Mr. Conductor." But it is still a good show.
I never thought the U50 was a particularly good looking engine, but that GN orange reaaly does it justice. Now it needs the goat!:teeth:
Shiny time station already solved this. No ferry needed. The new Thomas is actually annoying, because Thomas is pretty much an idiot now who Sir Topham Hatt should get rid of. The lessons and characters used to be better.
I agree that the older episodes were better. I think the newer ones are strongly designed to push the toys. As for the newer toys? I get that they are faster and stronger but at the cost of moving side rods and the demand for more expensive AAA batteries. Arggg!
